How to Get Urine Out of Car Seat – 3 Tips that Work

Oh not again! I know, I know it was an accident…

Let it be your child or your dog these accidents happen. The good news is that cleaning out the urine or pee from the car seat is not a big a deal. All you need is a few ingredients and a bit of elbow grease.

Look:

With my baby girl we’re at the stage of going off the diapers and accidents happen quite frequently so I’ve tested the best internet recommendations on how to remove pee from a car seat.

These are the very best 3 that worked for me. I especially like #2 because it’s the nuclear option works every time!

Let’s get this sorted already!

The Best Way to Get Urine out of Car Seat:

  • Vinegar And Liquid Soap Mix – Arm’s Reach Solution

  • Hydrogen Peroxide And Baking Soda – Nuclear Solution

  • Vodka – Just Like in Russia

#1 Vinegar And Liquid Soap Mix

I call this the arm’s reach solution because all the ingredients are at arm’s reach. Here’s what you need:

  • A spray bottle
  • Water
  • Vinegar
  • Liquid Detergent
  • Cloth or Rag

Here’s what you do:

Fill up the spray bottle with half vinegar and half water. Add a few drops of liquid soap to create some suds. Now, use the rag or cloth and wipe down the affected area as well as around it just in case you’ve got any drips on the sides of your car seat! This mix is pretty safe with no toxic fumes, so you can use it on any kind of fabric or leather.

But, make sure not to use it on suede.

Do this twice a better if the accident was recent and still wet. If you don’t have time for that then let the mixture sit in the car seat and do its thing while you’re away at work or at play.

#2 Hydrogen Peroxide And Baking Soda

I call this the nuclear option because it works every time without fail.

Here’s what you need:

  • Hydrogen Peroxide 3% concentration
  • Baking Soda
  • Liquid Soap
  • Spray Bottle
  • Water

All you have to do is sprinkle some baking soda on the affected area and spray it all over with hydrogen peroxide.

Leave this to sit for about an hour.

Now, get in there with some liquid soap and a sponge or rag. This is where you need your elbow grease because this is when stuff really starts to come out! You can also use a toothbrush to get into the nooks and crannies.

Once you’re done, rinse it all off with clean water!

This method is especially good for older stains because it bleaches out everything making your car seat as good as new.

#3 Vodka

I wouldn’t have thought that this will work and it did. Thanks to Vodka my seat has no pee smell what so ever. This is what you need:

  • Liquid Soap
  • Water
  • Bowl
  • Rags
  • Vodka

There’s nothing tricky about this all you have to do is soak your rag or cloth with the vodka and rub it into the affected area of your baby car seat. You can also use your hands or a sponge.

Once you’re done, throw the cloth in the washing machine and wash as usual. There’s no need to rinse off anything because all of the alcohol will evaporate during the drying process leaving behind no smell!

This also works great on leather car seats.

How Do I Get Rid Of Urine Smells From My Car Seat?

So the stain is out and you can still smell it? No problem I have a fix for that as well.

Remember that baking powder you have left over? This is what you do to remove residual odors.

Just sprinkle some baking soda on the affected area and leave to sit for about 20 minutes. Then vacuum it up with your car’s vacuum cleaner.

You’re done! Now you can sit back, relax and enjoy the ride feeling confident that your car smells fresh as a daisy!

Conclusions on how to get urine out of car seat

There are three methods to remove urine from car seats – vinegar and liquid soap mix, hydrogen peroxide and baking soda, and vodka. The vinegar and liquid soap mix is the easiest and most safe to use, while the hydrogen peroxide and baking soda is the most effective in removing old stains. For residual smells, the baking powder method is best.

I love DIY solutions because they are fast and effective. I hope you’ve found it useful.
