This car seat is super affordable. I was quite worried about getting a cheap car seat. So I asked a friend of mine who’s a police officer to share his thoughts.
He has seen his fair share of accidents. So I was curious about what does he have to say about getting a cheaper seat or blowing a lot on an expensive one.
His response surprised me, to say the least. He said that there’s not much difference in protection between a cheaper and an expensive car seat. If there were problems with a particular car seat, it would’ve been recalled. So there are only safe ones on the market.
So my next logical question was, why should I pay more if the protection is the same? This is where the main difference is. The expensive ones may offer more padding and might be more comfortable. Also, they might be easier to install.
That’s the difference. All in all, it’s perfectly safe to no shell out a bunch of money if a budget car seat is more affordable to you.
Let’s get this Graco Wayz review started. If you stick with me until the end, I will tell you the pros/cons. Some of them are unexpected, to say the least.
Who is the Graco Wayz 3 in 1 Harness Booster Car Seat?
This Graco seat is for kids who are older than three years old. And it’s for parents who want to save money in the long run by getting this car seat. It will grow with the child until it’s not needed.
Plus, it has a slim design, and you can do 3 across.
What can the Graco Wayz car seat do for you?
This is the most economical car seat for kids who are three and upward. Here are the main buying points. First of all, it’s lightweight so you can easily travel with it. Similarly, you can easily pop it in and out of cars.
There’s no 100+ page manual to read to assemble and install. There’s no assembly what so ever. The installation is fast and easy; you can get it done in three minutes or less.
Should I mention the looks? It looks cool kids love it. This car seat stands out from all those black and gray ones.
You know I have one kryptonite, and this is harness rethreading. I can’t do it. I usually have to ask my husband to do it for me. With this Graco, I don’t have to do it because it’s adjusted by the headrest. Since we’re talking about straps, here’s something you should know.
They are soft, so there’s no way that your little one would get burn marks in case of an accident.
The design is slim, and the base width is 19”. If you want to do 3 across, it can be done easily.
The installation is quite easy, thanks to the latch system. Best of all, you can’t get it wrong.
Graco Wayz shortcomings
Here’s my full disclaimer. I tried my best, and I’ve only managed to find a handful of things flawed with this Graco seat. Sorry to disappoint you. Either way, here we go.
The Graco Wayz car seat is modeled after the Ford T. It only comes in one color, which is red. You can choose to buy it or not. Those are your only options. A darker color is usually preferred if there are messy children, so stains aren’t an eyesore.
Many parents reported that their child got hot and sweated a lot. Probably the material isn’t that good in this regard.
They went overboard with the protection. Even as a parent, it is hard to press the release button. So no way your crafty one would be able to unbuckle.
So these would be the negatives. What do you think are they deal-breakers?
How To Get The Most Out Of Graco Wayz 3 in 1 Harness Booster Car Seat?
The Graco Wayz is front facing only. So after you got it, you need to decide where you will mount it. The safest position for your child is in the middle. I know for some that is not possible, so do for the second safest option. This would be behind the driver.
Now one of the biggest problems with car seats today is that they are not installed properly. Recent statistics show that 75% of all US car seats are not installed adequately. If the seat is not installed the right way, it won’t be able to do its job in case of a crash.
Even if it’s easy to install, you might want to get a second opinion just to be extra safe. The best person to turn to is a licensed professional.
Conclusion for the Graco Wayz Review
