Can you trust a cheap car seat?
From all the car seats I’ve reviewed, I can say one thing for certain. There’s only one major difference between cheap and expensive car seats.
This difference is the level of comfort.
Cheap car seats protect your children just as much as expensive ones. If this wouldn’t be the case, then there would’ve been recalled. Also, from time to time, certain models get retired as new technologies are available.
There’s no beating around the bush. This car seat is cheap. And it does offer the protection that your child needs. It even has side impact protection. If you have checked out the picture, you can see that it’s like a bucket seat.
For some, this will be comfortable, and for others, it won’t. It’s a minimalistic car seat and does everything that it’s advertised to do. It even has a cup holder. Some high-end car seats don’t offer that. I won’t be naming names, and you can find the one by checking out my reviews.
It offers 3 layers of protection from impact—side impact energy reduction by 50%. And the fabric is easy to wash with a washing machine.
Let’s get this Evenflo SureRide DLX review started. If you stick with me until the end, I will tell you the pros/cons. Some of them are unexpected, to say the least.
Who is the Evenflo SureRide DLX Convertible Car Seat?
Thiscar seat is an excellent backup, or it’s a good one for baby sitters and grandparents. Some parents use it as a travel seat.
It fits on airplanes, and it’s easy to carry. Thanks to its lightweight, it’s not a chore to haul it around the airport.
What can the Evenflo SureRide DLX car seat do for you?
This is a super light easy to use a car seat. It’s very affordable. It can be used as a primary seat, and many parents use it as a backup or a travel seat.
I rarely get around mentioning this, but it’s about time. Finally, a company that has good support. I mean, some high-end car seat makers are clueless what you’re talking about. Not with Evenflo.
If you are lost or have any questions, the customer support is outstanding.
Did you know that the Evenflo is made in the USA? Yes, that’s right, no 3rd world country and no shipping over the Pacific Ocean.
This car seat caters to infants who are at least 5 pounds, and the upper limit is 65 pounds. As you can see you can get a lot of mileage out this baby.
Last but not least I want to mention the material. That’s easy to remove and wash. Not to mention, it supports the washing machine. Yes, it sounds silly, but there are still brands that only allow hand washing or spot cleaning.
Evenflo SureRide DLX shortcomings
Every car seat has flaws. I will share with you to get the full picture. I believe that if you have the full picture that you can make a more educated decision if this is for you. Brace yourself; there are only a few things I’ve found wrong with this car seat.
First of all, there’s no adjustable recline position. This means that you won’t be able to do extended rear-facing. According to certain parents, this seat is good until your little one reaches one year in rear-facing mode.
That’s a tad bit short. Usually, parents prefer to keep them rear-facing until age two. In some European countries, they do it until the age of four.
The second issue is with the padding. Well, it’s more with the lack thereof. As I mentioned, in the beginning,g, you shouldn’t have high hopes for this car seat. For more padding, you will need to go to a higher tear car seat. Don’t get me wrong this is not bad or sitting on plastic.
For some more padding would’ve been better.
So these were the flaws of Evenflo SureRide. If you’re still with me, we can get to the next section.
How To Get The Most Out Of Evenflo SureRide DLX Convertible Car Seat?
The first thing to do after the unboxing is for you to decide the mode you will be using it. Remember that this car seat doesn’t support extended rear-facing. Once that’s done, you have to decide where you are going to place your little one.
The safest spot in the car is in the middle. Now for some, this isn’t a good option, so choose the second safest spot which is behind the driver.
Once that’s done, you need to install it correctly. For an easier install, do place your little one in the car seat and adjust the straps first and then mount it. Make sure that the seat is tight. 75% of car seats in the US are installed incorrectly. If they are wiggling too much, they can’t do the maximum protection.
Just to be on the safe side, ask a second opinion from a licensed professional.
There’s no way to perfectly level this seat. When you’re in rear-facing mode, you will need a rolled-up towel or a pool noodle so you can level it.
That’s about it safe travels.
- You get a lot of features for this small price
- It has a narrow profile, and you can take it on the plane with you
- It’s a perfect car seat for being a backup
- Many parents said that it isn’t padded enough
- There’s no adjustable recline option
