Breaking it down
What you have seen above was my go-to cheat sheet. This is what I use when I check out a new car seat. You can copy it and use it to your liking.
The first on the menu is safety. This is the most important part of any car seat. Over here, I will talk about all the tech that keeps your little one safe.
Then comes the size limits. As you probably know, these car seats aren’t cheap, so it’s good to invest in the long run, so you’re saving money as the years go by.
Next on the list is the installation. There are two camps here those brands which are hard to install and those who are easy. You’ll see which brand falls where.
The last important item is the fabric. We’re talking about kids, and they make a mess, so you have to know ahead of time, which is easier to clean.
Finally, I talk about the minor or secondary features. Sometimes I find some golden nuggets hidden.
Let’s get this Clek Fllo vs Diono Radian 3RXT comparison started. Just one more thing…
I have something special for you in the end. I have compiled a quick pros/cons list. The things I’ve found are quite interesting, to say the least.
Safety
Which is the safest car seat? This section will answer your question. Now there’s a dirty little industry secret that some brands don’t want you to know.
Let me assure you that all car seats on the market are safe. The secret is with the government tests. Some brands barely pass them. Which brand do you want to protect your child? The one that barely passed the test or the one that went the extra mile?
Clek Fllo Convertible Car Seat
The Clek Fllo is one of the safest car seats you can buy. Just look at it. It looks like a tank with nice cushions.
Here’s where the Fllo stands out. It has an energy-absorbing base. If there’s an impact, the energy is absorbed by the base, and it doesn’t travel in the body of your little one.
This seat also comes with Advanced side protection. The human body wasn’t built to handle side impact; thus, the car seat helps to deal with that.
The Fllo comes with an ARB (anti-rebound bar). It’s a perfect addition for toddler (rear-facing) safety. And your little one is kept safe by the 5-point harness. This is the safest one in the whole market.
Diono Radian 3RXT Convertible Car Seat
This has happened with a friend of mine.
They were on a shopping run. Dad was driving, and the little boy was sitting behind him.
When all of a sudden, a reckless driver ran the red light. It hit the car from the side. On the driver’s side. Exactly where the little boy was sitting.
The crash was loud. Glass shattered and broke into a million pieces—metal bent.
When it was over, the side of the van was destroyed. The father immediately checked his son.
There he was safe and sound without a scratch. The Radian saved a life that day.
The Diono Radian 3RXT car seat is made out of a full steel core. The steel is vehicle grade so that it can take the punishment of an impact. The side protection did its job and protected the little boy.
There’s energy-absorbing foam in the seat. This neutralizes the crash force, so it doesn’t travel in the child’s body. The 5-point harness kept the little one in place and safe.

Size Limits
There’s a secret to saving money with these expensive car seats. Best of all, you’re not making any compromises on safety. Let me share it with you. You have to invest in the long run. Most car seats are priced the same, so if you have to buy 3-4, that takes a toll on your budget. If you buy just 1-2, then you come out ahead.
Clek Fllo Convertible Car Seat
The Clek Flo caters to infants and up to 6 years old. The car seat comes with two modes rear-facing and front-facing.
The lower limit is set to 14 pounds in rear-facing mode, and the upper limit is one of the highest in the whole industry. This will help you do extended rear-facing up to 4 years old.
It’s highly recommended to keep your little one in rear-facing mode at least until they reach 2 years old. Some countries 4 years is the minimum.
In front-facing mode, the upper limit is 65 pounds or 49”.
This convertible car seat isn’t light. It weighs 25 pounds.
Diono Radian 3RXT
The Dorian Radian 3RXT is a lifer. It has four modes that will serve your child from infancy up to early adulthood.
It has three modes. There’s the rear-facing, front-facing, and booster mode.
If you want to, you can take your newborn home from the hospital with this seat. The Diono Radian 3RXT offers an all in one solution.
The lower limit is set to 5 pounds, which is good for transporting newborns. And the upper limit is set to 120 pounds or 62”.
With this Diono, you can do extended rear-facing. The upper limit is 45 pounds. It’s a bit shy what the Clek can offer, but it’s way above average.
Since it’s an all in one car seat, it’s a bit heavier, and it weighs 28.3 pounds.

Installation
This is the hardest part of the car seat. Getting that darn thing tight enough. Let’s see how these brands perform.
Clek Fllo Convertible Car Seat
For being an expensive car seat, the installation isn’t that straight forward. Here’s the good news. The forward-facing mode is the easiest and fasters. The rear-facing is a real pain.
In front-facing mode, all you have to do is guide the belt or the latch through the designated hole and make it tight. You’re done.
For the rear-facing mode, polish off your engineering degree. First of all, you need to remove the seat cushion. Then you have to open the belt locks. Now you have to put the seatbelt or the latch through the belt guide. Make sure that the belt is below the guide. If not and you try to close it, the plastic will break.
Then this car seat will turn into forwarding facing mode.
It’s not the easiest car seats I’ve ever seen. Learn the manual inside and out and watch install videos to get it right.
Diono Radian 3RXT Convertible Car Seat
To my surprise, the Diono Radian 3RXT installation is a breeze. Both front and rear-facing modes are so easy. I wonder why some brands complicate things.
Pick any mode, and you put the belt or the latch through the belt guide. You make it right, and you’re good. That’s it. It’s so simple.

Fabric/Material
Kids are messy or have accidents. This is the reason why you have to know how easy it is to clean the cover. What a parent wants is easy removal and easy washing. Let’s see who delivers.
Clek Fllo Convertible Car Seat
The Clek Fllo’s cover is made out of merino wool. There are no harmful chemicals added. It’s ideal for skin sensitive little ones.
Since the material is so delicate, you can only hand wash it.
I would prefer machine washing because some things get stuck in the material, and I don’t have the patients to clean it.
Diono Radian 3RXT Convertible Car Seat
This seems the perfect car seat or what? The material can be easily removed, and machine washed. It’s a good idea to use cold water on a gentle program.
As for drying stick to air drying.

Bonuses and Features
It’s not looking so good for the Clek Fllo. Maybe it can make up some ground in this section. Let’s see the secondary features.
Since both car seats cater to infants, it’s a good idea that the seat comes with a recline feature. Well, the Clek Fllo is fixed. It’s set at an angle, and you can’t change it. To level the car seat, they give the tip of using a pool noodle under the base.
Meanwhile, the Diono Radian 3RXT has a two option recline feature.
The headrest is adjustable for both car seats. Now I couldn’t find anywhere the levels for the Clek Fllo. The Diono Radian 3RXT has 9 to choose from for comfort.
Here’s a biggie. Both car seats have this flaw. You have to rethread the harness manually every time you adjust the headrest. I can never get it right, so this is a minus for both of them.
Last but not least, since these car seats cater to a growing child, they need a cup holder. The Clek Flo doesn’t have one. While the Diono Radian 3RXT has one flexible one, two would have been better.

When you have to pin down the best safety feature it’s extremely hard because there are so many important ones. Let’s see what kind of protection do these convertible car seats offer. First and foremost the anti-rebound bar is important. This is especially good for babies during a crash. Typically you have to attach the anti-rebound bar. Many parents said that the rebound bar seems to be flimsy but it suppose to be like that. With the Diono you’re getting a steel frame. With the clek you’re getting a steal frame as well so your little one will be safe and sound. The shell is filled with eps foam. The role of eps foam is to absorb impact energy. Both car seats have passed crash test results with flying colors. both of them use memory foam for comfort. Even it’s not a safety feature I like to mention memory foam because of comfort.

With the help of the angle adjuster, your little one will be comfy. There’s infant body support cushions for babies. If you want the ultimate baby gear you just found them.
Which one has the best fabric cover?
The Radian has the best color selection from all car seats. However, the Fllo is one of the few that are actually eco-friendly. There are no flame retardants or toxic chemicals used.
How do you install these car seats?
There are two choices to go with. First, there’s the vehicle seat belt and the latch installation. I prefer the latch system because it’s faster. All you need is to connect to the latch connectors and you’re ready to go. They are both FAA approved so they make good airplane seat options.
