Clek Fllo vs Diono Radian 3RXT – Which One is the Best?

The impact came from the side… on the side where the little boy was sitting…

You are powerless in an accident. The only thing you can do is hope that all the safety does its job.

There are lots of accidents on the road—no wonder the insurance premiums are so high. In most cases, you’re the victim.

The only thing to do during accidents is to prepare for them in advance. This is why I highly recommend getting the car seat that offers the best protection possible. After that’s done, make sure the installation is right. If it’s wrong, then the seat won’t be able to do its job properly.

Breaking it down

What you have seen above was my go-to cheat sheet. This is what I use when I check out a new car seat. You can copy it and use it to your liking.

The first on the menu is safety. This is the most important part of any car seat. Over here, I will talk about all the tech that keeps your little one safe.

Then comes the size limits. As you probably know, these car seats aren’t cheap, so it’s good to invest in the long run, so you’re saving money as the years go by.

Next on the list is the installation. There are two camps here those brands which are hard to install and those who are easy. You’ll see which brand falls where.

The last important item is the fabric. We’re talking about kids, and they make a mess, so you have to know ahead of time, which is easier to clean.

Finally, I talk about the minor or secondary features. Sometimes I find some golden nuggets hidden.

Let’s get this Clek Fllo vs Foonf comparison started. Just one more thing…

I have something special for you in the end. I have compiled a quick pros/cons list. The things I’ve found are quite interesting, to say the least.

Safety

Which is the safest car seat? This section will answer your question. Now there’s a dirty little industry secret that some brands don’t want you to know.

Let me assure you that all car seats on the market are safe. The secret is with the government tests. Some brands barely pass them. Which brand do you want to protect your child? The one that barely passed the test or the one that went the extra mile?

Clek Fllo Convertible Car Seat

The Clek Fllo is one of the safest car seats you can buy. Just look at it. It looks like a tank with nice cushions.

Here’s where the Fllo stands out. It has an energy-absorbing base. If there’s an impact, the energy is absorbed by the base, and it doesn’t travel in the body of your little one.

This seat also comes with Advanced side protection. The human body wasn’t built to handle side impact; thus, the car seat helps to deal with that.

The Fllo comes with an ARB (anti-rebound bar). It’s a perfect addition for toddler (rear-facing) safety. And your little one is kept safe by the 5-point harness. This is the safest one in the whole market.

Diono Radian 3RXT Convertible Car Seat

This has happened with a friend of mine.

They were on a shopping run. Dad was driving, and the little boy was sitting behind him.

When all of a sudden, a reckless driver ran the red light. It hit the car from the side. On the driver’s side. Exactly where the little boy was sitting.

The crash was loud. Glass shattered and broke into a million pieces—metal bent.

When it was over, the side of the van was destroyed. The father immediately checked his son.

There he was safe and sound without a scratch. The Radian saved a life that day.

The Diono Radian 3RXT car seat is made out of a full steel core. The steel is vehicle grade so that it can take the punishment of an impact. The side protection did its job and protected the little boy.

There’s energy-absorbing foam in the seat. This neutralizes the crash force, so it doesn’t travel in the child’s body. The 5-point harness kept the little one in place and safe.

Winner

The point goes to the Diono Radian 3RXT.

Size Limits

There’s a secret to saving money with these expensive car seats. Best of all, you’re not making any compromises on safety. Let me share it with you. You have to invest in the long run. Most car seats are priced the same, so if you have to buy 3-4, that takes a toll on your budget. If you buy just 1-2, then you come out ahead.

Clek Fllo Convertible Car Seat

The Clek Flo caters to infants and up to 6 years old. The car seat comes with two modes rear-facing and front-facing.

The lower limit is set to 14 pounds in rear-facing mode, and the upper limit is one of the highest in the whole industry. This will help you do extended rear-facing up to 4 years old.

It’s highly recommended to keep your little one in rear-facing mode at least until they reach 2 years old. Some countries 4 years is the minimum.

In front-facing mode, the upper limit is 65 pounds or 49”.

This convertible car seat isn’t light. It weighs 25 pounds.

Diono Radian 3RXT

The Dorian Radian 3RXT is a lifer. It has four modes that will serve your child from infancy up to early adulthood.

It has three modes. There’s the rear-facing, front-facing, and booster mode.

If you want to, you can take your newborn home from the hospital with this seat. The Diono Radian 3RXT offers an all in one solution.

The lower limit is set to 5 pounds, which is good for transporting newborns. And the upper limit is set to 120 pounds or 62”.

With this Diono, you can do extended rear-facing. The upper limit is 45 pounds. It’s a bit shy what the Clek can offer, but it’s way above average.

Since it’s an all in one car seat, it’s a bit heavier, and it weighs 28.3 pounds.

Winner

The point goes to Diono Radian 3RXT.

Installation

This is the hardest part of the car seat. Getting that darn thing tight enough. Let’s see how these brands perform.

Clek Fllo Convertible Car Seat

For being an expensive car seat, the installation isn’t that straight forward. Here’s the good news. The forward-facing mode is the easiest and fasters. The rear-facing is a real pain.

In front-facing mode, all you have to do is guide the belt or the latch through the designated hole and make it tight. You’re done.

For the rear-facing mode, polish off your engineering degree. First of all, you need to remove the seat cushion. Then you have to open the belt locks. Now you have to put the seatbelt or the latch through the belt guide. Make sure that the belt is below the guide. If not and you try to close it, the plastic will break.

Then this car seat will turn into forwarding facing mode.

It’s not the easiest car seats I’ve ever seen. Learn the manual inside and out and watch install videos to get it right.

Diono Radian 3RXT Convertible Car Seat

To my surprise, the Diono Radian 3RXT installation is a breeze. Both front and rear-facing modes are so easy. I wonder why some brands complicate things.

Pick any mode, and you put the belt or the latch through the belt guide. You make it right, and you’re good. That’s it. It’s so simple.

Winner

Diono Radian 3RXT by a long shot.

Fabric/Material

Kids are messy or have accidents. This is the reason why you have to know how easy it is to clean the cover. What a parent wants is easy removal and easy washing. Let’s see who delivers.

Clek Fllo Convertible Car Seat

The Clek Fllo’s cover is made out of merino wool. There are no harmful chemicals added. It’s ideal for skin sensitive little ones.

Since the material is so delicate, you can only hand wash it.

I would prefer machine washing because some things get stuck in the material, and I don’t have the patients to clean it.

Diono Radian 3RXT Convertible Car Seat

This seems the perfect car seat or what? The material can be easily removed, and machine washed. It’s a good idea to use cold water on a gentle program.

As for drying stick to air drying.

The point goes to Diono Radian 3RXT

Bonuses and Features

It’s not looking so good for the Clek Fllo. Maybe it can make up some ground in this section. Let’s see the secondary features.

Since both car seats cater to infants, it’s a good idea that the seat comes with a recline feature. Well, the Clek Fllo is fixed. It’s set at an angle, and you can’t change it. To level the car seat, they give the tip of using a pool noodle under the base.

Meanwhile, the Diono Radian 3RXT has a two option recline feature.

The headrest is adjustable for both car seats. Now I couldn’t find anywhere the levels for the Clek Fllo. The Diono Radian 3RXT has 9 to choose from for comfort.

Here’s a biggie. Both car seats have this flaw. You have to rethread the harness manually every time you adjust the headrest. I can never get it right, so this is a minus for both of them.

Last but not least, since these car seats cater to a growing child, they need a cup holder. The Clek Flo doesn’t have one. While the Diono Radian 3RXT has one flexible one, two would have been better.

Winner

The point goes to Diono Radian 3RXT.

Clek Fllo Convertible Car Seat

Pros:

It looks good in the car, and it’s safe at the same time

It’s safe tests show that it has the least toxic chemicals and fire retardants

It’s the narrowest car seat you can buy. Two of these in the backseat, and there’s still room in the middle for an adult.

Cons:

The resistive stain fabric is a good idea until a peeing accident. It fills all the hidden crevices so it will smell.

It’s hard to fly with this car seat. TSA agents warn against it.

Diono Radian 3RXT Convertible Car Seat

Pros:

Finally, a car seat where the baby isn’t slouching or sliding down

It’s lightweight and easy to move around

It’s soft and padded plus it comes with side impact protection

Cons:

The gray fabric is not that stain friendly

You can’t remove the fabric the only solution is spot cleaning

Final Recount

Diono Radian 3RXT dominated (5/5)

Clek Fllo lost (0/5)

Clek Fllo vs Diono Radian 3RXT Verdict

Wow, I have never done a review like this before. The Diono Radian 3RXT simply dominated the Clek Fllo. It didn’t manage to score any points.

In safety, Diono Radian 3RXT won because of a side impact accident that happened to a friend of mine.

In the size limits category, it won because it offers more versatility than the Clek Fllo. The install of the Diono Radian 3RXT is much easier than Clek Follow. And the fabric is machine washable, not like the Clek Fllo.

Even in the secondary features, the Diono Radian 3RXT was better than the Clek Fllo. It has more comfort levels and has a cup holder.

By request I have compared the Clek Fllo instead of the Foonf. If there’s enough interest then I will do the clek foonf as well.

What about the Diono Radian RXT Convertible Car Seat ?

I’ve picked the Diono Radian 3RXT because it’s the latest and best Convertible Car Seat  from Diono. Since the Radian was the readers favorite I’ve ignored the diono rainier.

Diono Radian vs Clek Fllo installation modes who has more?

The Clek Fllo is a simple Convertible Car Seat it can be installed in forward facing and rear facing mode. The Diono Radian 3RXT has 3 modes no wonder it’s a 3 in 1 car seat. It can be installed in rear facing, front facing and booster seat or booster mode. The Radian gives more than any other convertible seat it has a booster seat mode as well. Both car seats have a good harness system. The front facing mode is called the harness system. Harness mode is almost the last stage in child development. The harness straps don’t twist with these car seats.

Radian vs Fllo who has the best safety features?

When you have to pin down the best safety feature it’s extremely hard because there are so many important ones. Let’s see what kind of protection do these convertible car seats offer. First and foremost the anti-rebound bar is important. This is especially good for babies during a crash. Typically you have to attach the anti-rebound bar. Many parents said that the rebound bar seems to be flimsy but it suppose to be like that. With the Diono you’re getting a steel frame. With the clek you’re getting a steal frame as well so your little one will be safe and sound. The shell is filled with eps foam. The role of eps foam is to absorb impact energy. Both car seats have passed crash test results with flying colors. both of them use memory foam for comfort. Even it’s not a safety feature I like to mention memory foam because of comfort.

Fllo Vs Diono car seats what are the weight limits?

The seat Celk Fllo takes the rear-facing weight limit by allowing extended rear facing up to 50 pounds the Diono taps out at 45 pounds. In front facing mode the weight limit is 65 lbs for the Clek and 120 for the Diono. It’s good to know that the tether anchor weight limit is 64 pounds. Over here I want to mention the height limit as well for the Fllo is 49″ and the height limit for the Radian is 62″.

Clek Fllo vs Radian 3RXT which is the most comfortable car seat?

No matter how many year old is your child the Radian will be able to offer great protection against crash forces. Now the side wings aren’t for show they are critical in protection. There’s more then enough leg room for kids so these seats are comfy. To make sleep as good as possible there are many recline positions to choose from. With the help of the angle adjuster your little one will be comfy. There’s infant body support cushions for babies. If you want the ultimate baby gear you just found them.

Which one has the best fabric cover?

The Radian has the best color selection from all car seats. However the Fllo is one of the few that are actually eco-friendly. There are no flame retardants or toxic chemicals used.

How do you install these car seats?

There are two choices to go with. First there’s the vehicle seat belt and the latch installation. I prefer the latch system because it’s faster. All you need is to connect to the latch connectors and you’re ready to go. They are both FAA approved so they make good airplane seat options.
