There’s a big problem with car seats nowadays. And this is rarely mentioned. This is the dreaded head slump. Normally it looks far worse than it is.

For a few parents, this might lead to an unwanted emergency room visit. This has happened to some friends of ours.

Their young son has breathing problems. Even the smallest thing that can block his air pathways leads to complications. So they have gone through many different car seats.

They tried super high-end car seats, but it was a horrible experience. As they were driving, their boy has fallen asleep. The car seat was reclined as much as possible, but it wasn’t enough. The boys had slumped. As I said, it’s not a big issue with most kids. Fast forward a few hours, and they were safely out of the hospital.

Then they found Chicco MyFit. There’s no head slump with this car seat. This fact alone gave them peace of mind. Now they can focus on driving and not constantly check the rearview mirror if their son is breathing right.

Let’s get this Chicco MyFit review started. If you stick with me until the end, I will tell you the pros/cons. Some of them are unexpected, to say the least.

Car seats are notorious when it comes to installation. Starting from a few minutes, you can waste even hours to get that perfect fit. Do you want to hear some good news? The Chicco MyFit LE is easy to install. I’ve managed to do it in less than 10 minutes on my first try.

With a bit of experience, you will get faster.

For many parents, this is the last car seat they buy. The Chicco MyFit LE is aimed at parents who have a child who is at least two years old. And the booster mode is for kids who are at least four years old.

So from mid toddler range to pre-teens, you can ride with them in safety.

This car seat offers four recline positions. There’s no way that your little one will suffer from the floppy head syndrome.

The build is excellent and heavy-duty. After you have installed it correctly, there’s no movement.

The best part is the fabric. You can easily remove it from the seat, and it’s machine washable. The only issue comes with the padding around the straps—more on this in the next section.

This car seat is narrow, so you can easily do 3 across. Or if you have two kids, then there’s enough space for an adult in the middle.

It’s comfy, and kids can sleep well in it. The headrest moves up and down with ease. So you can adjust it to your liking if different kids are riding in the car.

And it looks cool. It’s not that same old, same old gray and black car seat. It’s well-cushioned, and it doesn’t get hot during the summer.

Chicco MyFit shortcomings

To my surprise, this Chicco car seat doesn’t have many flaws. I know this is the most popular section of my reviews, but I will have to disappoint you. I have only a few things to mention.

This will be problematic for some. Padding behind the straps is not removable. This isn’t normally an issue if your child is big enough or they don’t get the car sick. If they do, then the only way to clean is by using spot cleaning. That won’t remove puke.

You can try as hard as you can, something will remain there. During summer, it will have a strong smell. Of course, you can spray it down, maybe even hose it down and let it dry in the sun.

The second issue with this car seat comes from being narrow. This is perfectly OK if you want to do three across. This narrowness comes at a price. This Chicco seat is for thinner kids.

These were the things that I’ve found. It’s a well-rounded car seat, nothing too significant to complain about.

How To Get The Most Out Of Chicco MyFit Harness + Booster Car Seat?

First and foremost, you have to select the right spot for your little one. The safest place is in the middle. Now that might not be doable for you. I get it then choose the second one who is behind the driver.

Once that’s done, get it installed correctly. Once it’s mounted, it should move less than an inch. Now, if you want to be extra safe, do get a second opinion from a licensed professional.

Some say that it’s easy to install. Some parents said that it’s a two-person job. I think this comes down to the car model and car seat material.

It’s ideal for grandparent’s car since it’s so easy to adjust for different grandchildren.
