Welcome to the Cars That Start with S Hot List!

For the last few weeks I’ve been in full research mode by flipping through old newspapers, ready encyclopedias and interviewing old grease-monkeys and finding my dad’s old car magazine stash (with some of them that are not meant for the eyes of the Mrs)  I’m finally ready to reveal all the cars and brands with the letter S.

Saab

Saab was founded in 1937 and was based in Trollhättan, Sweden. It’s the only car maker that has a royal seal of approval. It was sold a few times over the years and it got defunct in 2012. In 2012 NV bought it they can only use the name and not the Griffin logo.

 

SAIC Motor

SAIC Motor was founded in 1955 and it’s based in Shanghai, China. SAIC is a state-owned vehicle manufacturing company. It’s the largest producer of vehicles in China.

 

Saipa

Saipa was founded in 1975 and it’s based in Tehran, Iran. It started out as Iranian 65% ownership and they were selling Citroen licensed cars under Saipa. Later on the government withdrew from the deal. After that they started to sell licensed Asian vehicles.

 

Saleen

Saleen was founded in 1984 by Steve Saleen and it’s based in Corona, California, United States. They focus on creating high-performance sports cars and parts.

 

Saturn

Star was founded in 1985 by Roger Smith and it was based in Spring Hill, Tennessee, United States (1985–2007) later on moved to Detroit. It was operational between 1985 and 2010. They focused on creating compact cars to compete with Japanese brands.

 

Scania

Scania was founded in 1891 by Gustaf Erikson and it’s based in Södertälje, Sweden. They focus on creating heavy-duty trucks and buses. They are owned by Volkswagen Group.

 

Scion

Scion was founded in 2003 based in Torrance, California, United States. It was launched by Toyota and they were focusing on compact sports cars. In 2016 it was merged into Toyota.

 

SEAT

SEAT was founded in 1950 by the Instituto Nacional de Industria and it’s based in Martorell, Spain. Since 1986 Volkwagen has owned Seat. They focus on creating compact cars.

 

Setra

Setra was founded in 1951 based in Germany. They focus on creating buses. Ownership changed a few times over the years and currently it’s owned by Daimler.

 

Shacman

Shacman was founded in 1968 based in Shaanxi, China. They focus on creating trucks and buses.

 

Simca

Simca was founded in 1934 by Henri Théodore Pigozzi and it was based in Nanterre, France later moved to Poissy. They focused on creating cars for the masses. During the years the ownership changed. The last owner was PSA Peugeot and in 1979 they dropped Simca altogether.

 

Skoda

Skoda was founded in 1895 by Václav Laurin and Václav Klement and it’s based in Mladá Boleslav, Czech Republic. They focused on creating mass-market cars. After the gradual privatization in 2000 Skoda became under Volkswagen’s control.

 

Smart

Smart was founded in 1994 by Nicolas Hayek and it’s based in Böblingen, Germany. They focus on creating luxury compact vehicles. They are loved very much by cities with narrow streets such as Rome, Paris, and Florence.

 

Soueast

Soueast was founded in 1995 and it’s based in Fuzhou, Fujian, China. They focus on creating passenger cars and minibusses plus selling Mitsubishi cars in China.

 

GTA Motor & Spania GTA

GTA Motor & Spania GTA was founded in 1994 by Domingo Ochoa and it’s based in Valencia, Spain. They focus on creating sports cars.

 

Spirra

Spirra was founded in 2007 based in South Korea. They are owned by Oullim Motors. They focus on creating sports cars.

 

Spyker

Spyker was founded in 1898 by Maarten de Bruijn and Victor Muller and it’s based in Zeewolde, Netherlands. They focus on creating sports cars.

 

SsangYong

SsangYong was founded in 1954 and it’s based in Seoul, South Korea. Currently the Indian Mahindra owns 70% of the company. They focus on creating vehicles for the masses.

 

SSC North America

SSC North America was founded in 1998 by Jerod Shelby and it’s based in West Richland, Washington, United States. They focus on creating supercars. They managed to snag the fastest production car in the world title for a short period.

 

Sterling Trucks

Sterling Trucks was founded in 1906 and it’s based in Redford Township, Michigan, U.S. They were focusing on creating heavy-duty trucks which are sold in the US, Canada, Mexico, Australia and New Zealand. Currently it’s owned by Daimler.

 

Studebaker

Studebaker was founded in 1952 by the Studebaker brothers and it was based in South Bend, Indiana, United States. They were operational between 1952 and 1967. While in operations they were creating wagons and automobiles.

Stutz was founded in 1911 by Harry Clayton Stutz, Henry F. Campbell based in Indianapolis, Indiana, United States. They were operational between 1911 and 1939. They focused on creating luxury cars and sports cars for the rich and famous.

Suzuki a very well-known and established Japanese brand. It was founded in 1909 by Michio Suzuki and it’s based in Hamamatsu, Shizuoka, Japan. They focus on creating small cars, motorcycles and many different types of engines.

 

Sisu Trucks

Sisu Trucks was founded in 1931 by Lars Wilhelm Åberg, Emil Anton Winckelmann, Karl Arthur Nordgrén and it’s based in Raseborg, Finland. They focus on creating heavy-duty trucks, plus they create military vehicles as well.

 

Singulato

Singulato was founded in 2014 based in Beijing, China. They focus on creating premium Chinese new energy vehicles.

 

Sinotruk (CNHTC)

Sinotruk (CNHTC) was founded in 1935 based in Jinan, Shandong, China. It’s a state-owned truck company that is the 3rd largest in China.

 

Singer

Singer was founded in 1875 by George Singer and it was based in Coventry, United Kingdom. They were in operation between 1875 and 1970. While in operations they were focused on Automobiles, Motorcycles and bikes.
