Britax B-Safe 35 Review – The best for infants?

What do you do when your infant doesn’t want to fall sleep?

Friends of ours shared this story. When nothing puts the baby down, just use this car seat.

After they brought their little one home from the hospital, she was a bad sleeper. I didn’t want to sleep anywhere. She was exhausted and still, she didn’t go down. Then they read the idea that babies can sleep well while they are on the road.

This was their last choice. So the husband put the crying little one in the car seat. Took off. Everything went quiet after that. She was sound asleep in a matter of seconds. After 15 minutes or so, they have returned and slept in her bed.

You can imagine who fun is to drive around at night. In the first 6 weeks, this was their program. When bedtime came around, they hopped into the car and drove until she has fallen asleep.

After 6th week it got better.

What does this say? The car seat is super comfy. For some reason, their child preferred to sleep in the car then in the comfy bed.

It’s a heartwarming story. A year has passed since the events. She still loves that Britax seat. Nobody knows what’s going to happen when she outgrows it.

Before we get any further, let me give you a quick preview. It’s easy to install. Just click it in the base. The shell design gives optimum safety for your little one from the front and side collisions. It’s sturdy, and you can use it as long as you like since it doesn’t have an expiration date.

It’s made in the USA.

Let’s get this Britax B-Safe 35 review started. If you stick with me until the end, I will tell you the pros/cons. Some of them are unexpected, to say the least.

Who is the Britax B-Safe 35 Infant Car Seat?

This car seat is for parents who want the safest for their little ones. Also, it’s for those who want to combine the carrier with a stroller. This is possible, and you will have a full travel system.

What can the Britax B-Safe 35 car seat do for you?

This infant car seat is for rear-facing and 4 to 35 pounds. Once you have installed it, all you have to do is keep the base in the car so you can remove it with ease. This is perfect if you have a snoozing little one you can pop them in and out of the car without waking them up.

It has a good manual. Finally, somebody understands the language of what parent’s use. It’s quite easy to install. Since the base remains in the car, you can swap the carrier between vehicles.

Some friends of hours have been in a rollover accident. Their infant child was in the back, strapped into his Britax. You probably know that rollover crashes are the deadliest ones. The good news is that they weren’t hurt. Some minor cuts and bruises for the parents and the little one was safe.

The missing or bad head support is a common problem with most infant carriers. It’s not the case with this B-safe.

If you want to combine it with a stroller, it’s compatible with many Britax ones. Plus, if you have a different brand, then you can use an adapter if it doesn’t fit.

Britax has a reputation for safety. It doesn’t disappoint here either. It has a steel frame. The straps are easy to adjust. It’s a good choice.

Britax B-Safe 35 shortcomings

Well, this is the most popular section of my reviews. I’m here, and I won’t disappoint. As you know, every car seat has flaws. Let’s see if they are a deal-breaker for you.

There’s no way around it. This car seat is heavy and bulky. If you had a C-section, you wouldn’t be able to lift it. For some, this is a good compromise. Heavy and bulky equals safety. No wonder it has such a high reputation.

The biggest issue with this infant carrier is that it’s not compatible with shopping carts. So if you plan to run some errands while your little one is napping brace yourself. The only solution I’ve found is either getting some adaptors or placing it in the shopping cart.

If you choose the latter option, you will have less space for the groceries.

A few parents reported that if the car has cloth seats, then the carrier slides. I didn’t have that experience.

The last thing that I have to mention is the canopy. Somehow there’s not enough space between the canopy and the handle. Those who have large hands just like my husband do put extra wear and tear on it. This is a design error.

These would be the main flaws of this Britax car seat. If it’s not a big deal for you, then we can continue.

How To Get The Most Out Of Britax B-Safe 35 Infant Car Seat?

Before you get into the installation procedure, choose the right spot for the car seat. The safest place is in the middle. For some, this is not possible, so the second safest place is behind the driver.

The main problem with car seats today is that they are installed incorrectly. Around 75% are not done right. With this Britax, it’s easy to get it fixed the right way. Just in case you want to be on the safe side, you can ask for a second opinion from a certified professional.

What’s good about this car seat is that you can install it with and without the base. It happened to us that my husband took that car with the base, and it wasn’t a problem because it can be used without it. Sure it takes a few more minutes, but the job is done, and it’s secure.

Pros:

  • This car seat does not expire great for the long term
  • The best material since it doesn’t show wear and tear after a year of heavy use
  • The easiest infant car seat to install

Cons:

  • It’s not shopping cart compatible
  • The space between the handle and the canopy is small

Conclusion for the Britax B-Safe 35 Review

As you have seen, this car seat is safe. It has protected a baby in a rollover accident, which is the most dangerous one of its kind. It’s easy to install, and you can combine it with a stroller to have a full travel system.
