Looking for an Amazing Bass Without Burning All Your Savings Then Check Out the Best Skar Audio Subwoofer List

Welcome to the best Skar Audio Subwoofer Awards!

So for the past 16 days, I’ve been installing, tweaking and breaking in Scar Subwoofers meanwhile sacrificing my favorite TV show, which was spoiled by my wife (yeah, I know…), to bring you the best Skar Audio Subs for your ride.

I’m ranking the best 6 Skar Audio Subs on the market based on power, bass strength, ease of install and the cool factor.

Look:

Finding the best subwoofer for your needs comes down to two things your budget and space available the soon as you know these, it will be easy to find the perfect sub for window flexing bass or just some good thump-thump for the daily commute.

I’ve been installing audio in cars and trucks for more than 20 years, so I’ve decided to share my experience so you don’t have to spend days or weeks researching while risking getting a dud.

To make it as simple as possible, there are two main categories, enclosed and regular subs, and within them, I’ve picked the most popular sizes, the 8”, 10” and 12”.

Let’s feel some bass already!

#1. Skar Audio Single 12″ SDR Series – Best Overall Subwoofer

And we have a WINNER!

This Skar Audio subwoofer is the ultimate sub that you can get for your ride. No matter what’s your preference, this sub will deliver excellent bass. I thought Rockford Fosgate’s Punch series was overwhelming. Well, I need to replace it with this Skar Audio.

Oh, the vibrations, let me tell you this you won’t need a massage chair after you have installed this baby. This beast requires a lot of power, 600 Watts RMS. It’s one of the most powerful 12-inch subs I’ve installed so far. You will have to turn this one down at the stoplight, or you can get the unwanted attention of cops.

Besides that, Skar Audio is not well known, and I know many skeptics who turned into for life customers because of their exceptional quality and outstanding support. Their customer care is unheard of in this industry. They go out of their way to help you.

WARNING! When you install this sub in your ride, you will automatically lose your favorite neighbor status. Keep this in mind.

Here’s why this subwoofer got the top spot:

It beats two 12” other subs: from my testing, I can safely say that this one 12 inch sub can beat two from well-known brands

Hits low and hard: there’s no other way of saying it just it hits hard, low and deep, and you can feel it in your body

A Bass Head? This woofer will be the perfect addition to your ride. It does everything right, and it’s loud as hell if you max it out.

I’ve found a few things that I would consider as a drawback:

During the break-in period, there’s a smell that will disappear after a while. This is quite common with many subs.

If you’re playing music with some extremely low frequencies, there’s some squeaking sound and only during those phases.

Since Skar Audio is not that well known, I have only installed it in a few cars so far: Kia Stinger, Optima and a Charger. The owners had a priceless smile when they drove away from their new system.

Now, if you’re interested to create your system and save some money in the process, then check out #2 on my list.

The last time I’ve checked, there were only a few in stock, so make sure you grab it before they run out.

Pros

The bass is so strong that you will have to fix your mirrors frequently

Customer service is top-notch, and they go out of their way to help you

The vibrations are powerful. You can feel them in your entire body

Cons

There’s a smell during the burning off period

During ultra-lows, there’s a bit of squeaking going on.

#2. Skar Audio EVL-12 D2 12″ – Best 12 inch Sub

Oh boy, I’m not used to this type of bass. In essence, it hits hard when it’s needed, and it hits tight when it’s needed.

Best of all, you could get this subwoofer at an insanely low price. I mean, it feels like you’re getting a taste from a drug dealer at this rate without being cheap.

This sub is 12” and takes a monster of 1200 Watts RMS. Make sure you have sufficient power to run this baby. Most people I’ve installed this woofer wanted to turn it down because it was too loud, and initially, they specified that they like it loud. A client of mine said that it hits stupid hard even on half gain.

If you’re brave enough to listen to it at near max, you can rest assured that it’s clean there are no distortions, so no wonder it’s the favorite of many drivers.

Even though it’s at a crazy low price, it looks top-notch. I mean, it looks great out of the box, and it’s durable.

The features make this sub a must-buy:

Big Bass Small Price Tag: This sub shakes the mirrors, and you can feel it in your chest without paying the high prices of other brands

Super Easy to Install: there’s no guesswork what so ever anybody can install it with ease because everything you need is included

Perfect for all music: since this sub can handle the lows perfectly, then you will enjoy great bass with any music genre

There are a few drawbacks that you have to know ahead of time:

If your battery is on the weaker side, you will have some dimming lights, so make sure you get a capacitor to avoid this hiccup.

The RCA jacks are cheaply made, so be careful how you plug and unplug things.

Man o man, this sub is in demand. I’ve installed it in: Kia Koup, Honda Civic, F150, Challenger and ’98 S10 single cab, and they were all happy campers.

If you want this amazing sub, then you have to step on it because it’s almost out of stock. Grab it while it’s there are you will have to wait weeks, if not more.

Pros

Amazing bass without breaking the bank

It’s mean and loud that it shakes the mirrors

Super easy install there’s no guesswork what so ever involved

Cons

It’s heavy and greedy

The RCA Jacks are not that good

#3. Skar Audio Single 8″ – Best 8 inch Enclosed Sub

How hard can this sub hit? Well hard enough to give you a black eye if you’re close enough.

I’ve installed this for a friend of mine. He wanted to compete with someone who has gotten inheritance money and wanted to show off that you don’t need to rob a bank to have a great-sounding ride. In the end, this 8” 350 Watts RMS subwoofer has beaten a $2,000 Rockford Fosgate system.

I almost forgot to mention this sub is perfect for those who have a small space or don’t want to waste the trunk for an oversized system. I don’t know what Skar Audio is doing because, so far, they have the punchiest subs on the market. And to add the cherry on top, they are at a super affordable price range.

As you have seen, they can beat bigger brands with ease.

Here’s why it’s a must-buy:

It Punches like Tyson in His Prime: you can’t believe how hard-hitting this sub is. Don’t forget it’s just an 8“ one.

Match Made in Heaven: whoever matched the sub and amp did a great job. It’s exactly what the doctor ordered.

Unbeatable Price: no wonder there are so many skeptics out there; at this insane price, it seems too good to be true, and it’s not. This sub is high quality and punchy at the same time.

There are a few drawbacks that I would like to mention:

They have used a cheap remote wire which has disintegrated after a few people spliced it

Some people have reported that the build quality is poor because there’s glue sticking out, so it was rushed out from the factory

My clients with this system are all too happy, and I’ve installed it in these vehicles: Tahoe, Lexus, Tacoma, GMC Terrain and ’69 Camper.

More and more people are finding out about these cost-effective big bass subwoofers, so no wonder that they are constantly short on stock. Make sure you buy it instantly, or you will get on a long waiting list.

Pros

It hits so hard that you can get a black eye if you’re too close to it

Amazing price and great quality that it has beaten a $2,000 2×12” Rockford Fosgate system

The price is a real steal

Cons

Remote wire disintegrates when it’s spliced

Rushed finish because the glue was visible

#4. Skar Audio SVR-8 D2 – Best 8 inch Sub

Do you want to rattle granny’s old China? Then all you need is a good break-in period and a spare battery, and you’re all set.

All jokes aside, this small sub delivers a hell of a punch. People won’t believe that there’s an 8” in the back. Here’s the secret, it needs a lot of power. This subwoofer is rated at 400 Watts RMS.

It’s the perfect sub for Rock and Jazz because it’s punchy, and it’s perfect for Rap, R&B, Pop because it’s deep and can reach all the lows without any issues.

There’s nothing to say about the build quality besides being a solid premium and wait until you see the price. You will be blown away. It’s like Christmas. It’s almost free. This subwoofer is excellent for a small car and for anyone who needs some extra thump-thump for the commute.

Check out these great features:

Best all-around speaker: it can handle any type of music you throw at it. The bass is excellent, and it can handle the drops like a champ.

Competition sub? Well, not quite, but it gets there. Amazing craftsmanship and hard-hitting bass that contributes to an outstanding sound quality

For the bass heads: get 4 or 6 of these, and you will get a crazy pounding bass, and you still don’t need to rob a bank to afford it.

Here are a few drawbacks to look at:

You need a lot of power for this little one that 400 Watts RMS takes a toll on the battery, so a backup battery or capacitor is an absolute must

Since this sub requires so much power, it can’t be mixed with others because it will either burn out the weaker ones, or this will be quiet

I have installed this woofer in only two cars so far in a Chevy Cruze and a Jeep Cherokee, and both clients were extremely pleased with their new sound.

Even though it’s “just” an 8-inch sub, it’s in high demand. They are flying off the shelves, so grab one before they run out.

Pros

If you can, you will easily rattle granny’s fine china from a distance

It can handle any type of music let it be punchy or with deep lows

The finished product is breathtaking with awesome craftsmanship

Cons

It’s a greedy one. I tell you a lot of power is needed

For the reason above, it can’t be mixed with different subs

#5. Skar Audio Single 10″ SDR Series – Best 10 inch Enclosed Sub

Boy’s we have a sleeper in our midst. Let me present the low-key 10 inches Skar Audio subwoofer, which is rated at 600 Watts RMS.

I’ve tested it against two Rockford Fosgate 12” subs. This bad boy has blown them away. And Rockford Fosgate isn’t some budget brand out of China. There’s no competition the Skar Audio has won, hands down.

If you have a small space available, this sub will fit in nicely. The look is mean and cool at the same time. Once you have broken it in, wow, people will think you’re lying, and they won’t believe that it’s “just” a 10 inch one in the back.

I didn’t dare to put the gain above half point because it’s loud enough without it. It hits hard as hell, and the bass is punchy.

Here are the reasons why this is a must-buy:

Budget Bass in a Package: the sound quality is unheard of at this price range. It will shock you how good this bad boy is

It’s a sleeper: people won’t believe you when you say it’s “just” a 10-inch one.

It hits hard as hell: time to move on, Kicker. This sub can outperform two 12 inch Kicker subs. It’s so powerful

Here are few drawbacks to see:

This is one greedy subwoofer you might need to upgrade your alternator for a 320A or higher

Since the sub needs a lot of power, it might flicker your lights, so the best idea is to get a capacitor

It’s one of the most popular subs I’ve installed ever. There were so many takers: Sentra, 325 BMW, Mustang, S10 Single Cab, Honda Accord, Mini Countryman, Jeep Wrangler, and they all left with a huge smile on their faces.

Because of the popularity, this sub is constantly sold out. So if you find it hold on tight, or you have to wait weeks on end.

Pros

The bass is so good that it can compete with the other two 12” subs

The insane price you can’t get better quality than this one

It’s ideal for small cars because of the short profile and minimum space requirements

Cons

You might need to invest in a 320A alternator to fuel the greed

If you have dimming lights, you will need a capacitor

#6. Skar Audio DDX-10 D4 – Best 10 inch Bub

If you’re looking for an underpriced and overdelivering subwoofer, you just found the right one. The price for this sub looks too good to be true. And it’s not. It’s well built and packaged, plus it delivers great bass.

For example, this sub came with excellent packaging. There’s no way that they get damaged during shipping.

Brace yourself. This sub needs a lot of power. It’s rated at 1000 Watts RMS, so you need a decent power supply, or you won’t be able to get the max out of it.

This subwoofer pushes a lot of air. If you position it right, you can get a massage chair free of charge. And as a bonus, you can mess your girl’s hair up. Never attempt that after an appointment in the hair salon. I learned that the hard way.

What I’ve noticed with this sub is that it performs the best after 2 weeks of break-in period. It can handle the lows extremely well, and it has the best SPL and SQ.

Here are some insane features of this sub:

It’s Real Bass: if you want those lows, this won’t disappoint. It can handle anything above 28hz with ease.

It Beats a Massage Chair: plug it in and turn it up and enjoy the music and the massage at the same time; also, it’s a great way to mess up the girlfriend’s hair.

No way, it’s just a 10”: some say it’s way too powerful for a 10 while others say that this can destroy even two 15” ones.

A bit of cool water because of the drawbacks:

There’s a long break-in period my best estimate is 2 weeks, and it’s all worth it after that. This sub really comes alive.

This sub is power-hungry with the 1000 Watts RMS we’re going into the not-a-joke area.

There aren’t many takes for the 10-inch sub, and yes, I have multiple happy clients who have installed it in: Silverado, Bronco, Jeep Wrangler, Ram and Infinity FX35.

I won’t sugarcoat it. There are supply issues with this sub. If you are lucky and see it in stock, buy it, so you don’t have to wait.

Pros

The bass is so hard that it flexes the roof

It can handle the lows down to 28hz perfectly

It’s a perfect combo that can serve you as a back massager on long trips

Cons

It’s a power-hungry sub. Get ready to deliver 1000 Watts RMS

It’s not in the featherweight category

Conclusions

We have reached the end of this best Skar Audio subwoofer award. By now, you should already know which sub is the best fit for your needs.

As you have seen, two things stand out with Skar Audio. One is that they deliver an amazing bass no matter the sub, and secondly, they are priced at an affordable level. Many of the subs above are almost competition level without being overpriced.

I loved testing these subs, and boy; my clients were happy with their system upgrades. So if you have tips or questions, feel free to contact me.

Roger and out.
