Check Out the Best Kenwood Subwoofer for the Ultimate Sweet Sounding Ride

Welcome to the Best Kenwood Subwoofer Awards

After spending the last 11 days running wires, soldering and electrocuting myself a few times (yes, it happens with the best of us), I’m ready to share the best Kenwood subs for your ride.

Look:

I’m ranking these Kenwood woofers by bass strength, price, power requirements, and how easy it is to install them.

Since I’ve been installing subs, amps, speakers and head units for more than 20 years, I’ve thought it would be a great idea to share my experience. By reading this guide, you will save a lot of time and money by avoiding duds.

You can rest assured that picking any of these subs below will be a great performer and a true winner. Everything comes down to your budget and the space available. The faster you know these, the easier it will be finding that bass you want.

Below you can see the top 3 Kenwood woofers, and I’ve made this list that caters to everyone by picking only the most popular sizes 8”-12” and there are normal and enclosed subs listed.

Let’s enjoy some bass already!

#1. Kenwood KSC-PSW8 – Best Overall Kenwood Subwoofer

And we have a WINNER!

I know, I know this is just an 8” sub, and to make things worse (or better), it has a slim design, so hear me out.

All you need are realistic expectations for this sub. It won’t rattle the windows or disturb the neighbors, and on the other hand, it will deliver a pounding and punching bass for you to enjoy.

This 8” Kenwood sub needs 150 Watts RMS and makes your commute more enjoyable. Don’t get me started with the remote. Kenwood did a great job with it. It’s super easy to use, and you can adjust the bass on the fly depending on the song you’re playing while keeping your eyes on the road. Can you ask more than that?

Here is the reason why it’s the top pick on my list:

  • Great bass if you have no space: I’ve installed this sub in a Toyota that had no space for groceries, and it fits like a glove
  • Handy Remote: it not only allows you to get the best bass experience for every song, but it keeps you safe on the road as well
  • Rounded sound system: since it hits the lows perfectly and delivers punchy bass and your ride will have the perfect system

I have found a few drawbacks you have to see:

It’s just an 8” sub; well, it delivers on all fronts, so if you can put the ego to the side, there’s a great system waiting for you

Some people mentioned that it’s not that easy to mount. Well, this is true. All you need to fix it is getting the right harness

This sub is one of the most popular ones I’ve ever installed. I have a long list of happy customers driving: Nissan Hardbody, Forrester, Jeep Wrangler, Chevy Crew Cab, Volt, F150, Honda CRV, 4Runner, JKV, Yaris, BMW x3, Highlander and Silverado.

If you want to get a slightly bigger and cheaper sub, then check out #2 on my list.

As you can see, this Kenwood sub is in high demand, so no wonder there was only a handful in stock when I’ve checked. There’s no time to spare! Get one now while there’s one in stock.

Pros:

It has an ultra-thin profile while banging hard

It hits the lows perfectly, and it rounds out the sound system nicely

Excellent remote control knob to adjust the bass on the fly for every song

Cons:

It’s not that easy to mount if you don’t have the right harness

It’s just an 8 inch sub

#2. Kenwood Excelon KFC-XW1200F – Best 12 inch Kenwood Subwoofer

I’ve played a prank on a friend of mine who’s an audio expert. I’ve installed this sub in the trunk of a truck. I’ve asked him if he can guess what kind of system I have there. His guess was a 15” in a big box.

He was far from the truth. It’s a 12” sub rated at 350 Watts RMS.

It’s one of the thinnest 12” subs I’ve seen, so they are perfect for truck owners who don’t have much space to spare.  Other than that, it’s a great way to round out your system. The mids are perfect, and the lows are ok besides the extreme lows.

And if you’re into it, besides enjoying strong bass, you have used it as a seat massager.

Here are the top reasons why it’s a must-buy:

  • For Truck Owners: this is the perfect sub for truck owners because it has a slim profile, so it will fit anywhere and delivers great bass
  • It’s not a noisemaker: these subs create a bass that is felt in your chest
  • Built to last: I installed this sub in a truck more than 3 years ago, and it’s still banging hard

There are a few drawbacks that I would like to mention:

It’s an OK sub. Just don’t expect the lows to be perfect; other than that, it performs as advertised

There’s an initial burn off smell that disappears after the break-in period. I call it big bass incoming

Kenwood woofers are loved by many, so no wonder I have a mile-long customer list driving: F150, Challenger, Silverado, Tacoma, Dodge Ram, 2007 Sports Trac, Tundra and Sierra Single Cab.

The supply is heading towards 0 as we speak. So there’s no time to lose jump on it while there’s still some left. If not, you will have to wait weeks on end.

Pros:

It’s not a noisemaker; it creates a bass that you can feel in your chest

This is the ideal subwoofer for truck owners, hands down

High-quality build. I know people who have been banging this sub for 3 years and counting

Cons:

It won’t hit the extreme lows

There’s an initial smell which I call deep bass

#3. Kenwood Excelon KFC-XW1000F – Best 10 Inch Kenwood Sub

If you want to get a great bass experience for your daily commute without spending a fortune on a system, you have just found the perfect fit.

This 10” Kenwood sub rated at 250 Watts RMS gives you clean full bass. There’s no hype around this product. It delivers what it should.

Best of all, it’s a shallow mount woofer so that you can stick it anywhere. It’s durable and will last you for many thumping years to come.

Here are the top reasons why it’s a must-buy:

  • Impressive Sound Quality: there’s no question about it. This sub delivers great bass
  • Masks Engine Noise: even if it’s just a 10” woofer, it can easily mask diesel engine noise and highway speeds
  • Shallow Mount: it has a slim design so you can fit it anywhere also; it’s great for trucks with minimal space to spare

There are a few drawbacks that I would like to mention:

The lowest this speaker can go is 35hz below that the distortions are felt still it’s great value for the price

A few people mentioned that this Kenwood burns out. If you get too close to the 250 Watts RMS, it wasn’t the case for me.

Kenwood subs are in right now. I’ve installed so many of them it’s hard to keep track of them all. Here’s a shortlist of happy customers driving: F150, F350, Nissan Frontier, Expedition, Silverado, S10 standard cab and Jeep Wrangler.

The last time I’ve checked, they were almost out of stock. You might get lucky, and if you even find one get before somebody else snatches it away. It’s quite a long waiting period.

Pros:

Excellent sound quality it produces clean, powerful bass

It’s the perfect shallow mount sub for small space vehicle owners

What Diesel noise? You won’t hear anything through the bass

Cons:

The lowest it can go is 35Hz

It doesn’t like to be overpowered because it burns out
