#1 Kicker 46CXA8001 – The Best Car Amplifier for Bass

[REVEALED] The Best Car Amplifiers for Bass in 2024 1We have a WINNER!

This is the best amplifier if you want to have a car shaker. The bass has never sounded this deep and hard. As a matter of fact, it’s just perfect for powering a single sub.

If you have multiple of them, no problem, it can handle two of them at the same time.

Get ready to be envied because people won’t believe that you have just a 10” in the back. I got a friend of mine going back and measuring it just to see if I’m lying.

This Kicker amplifier is a monoblock and Class D unit, which means that it takes up little space, and you won’t need to invest in cooling fans and other equipment.

Power Specs:

  • 1600 Watts Peak Power
  • 600 Watts RMS at 2 omhs
  • 800 Watts RMS at 8 ohms

The power is just great to juice up the subwoofer. After installing it, which is a breeze, you will be able to enjoy quality music like never before.

Warning! Make sure you have quality subwoofers because they will be getting a serious beating.

This is why it’s top of my list:

  • Best Sounding System: This amp delivers the juice for a deep tight bass which hits harder than ever before; just what the doctor ordered
  • Secret Weapon: If you want some great bass by powering 2 x 10” or 2 x 12” without spending a fortune, you’ve just found the perfect amplifier
  • Night and Day Difference:  Installing this amp will make your system a lot better without doing a complete overhaul

A few drawbacks to consider:

A few people mentioned that the amp shuts down for no reason at all. If this is the case, then make sure that there’s at least 6” for ventilation. Overheating might be the issue.

Oh, come on, Kicker, do you really need to upsell us with the bass remote? For the price we’re paying, they could’ve easily added as a bonus.

What can I say more about this Kicker amplifier? Well, they know how to make great audio equipment. Yes, it has a flaw or two, and that’s nothing compared to the power and quality you’re getting.

Now, if you want to get this amplifier, you need to act fast because the stocks are limited. I mean, these units are flying off the shelves, and the resupply is weeks away. So grab one right now.

If you want something cheaper, then check out #2 on my list.

Pros
  • Tight and Deep bass that hits harder than you can imagine
  • Over-deliver since you can power two 10” or two 12” subwoofers
  • Sounds amazing, excellent quality in a compact package
Cons
  • If it overheats, it will shut down
  • The bass knob has to be purchased separately

#2 Taramp’s Smart 3 – Best Affordable Car Amp for Bass

[REVEALED] The Best Car Amplifiers for Bass in 2024 2No way that this tiny amp can deliver 3000 watts was my thinking. I was shocked that they weren’t lying, and you can get that much power.

To my surprise, it almost made my subwoofer jump from the box. Also, before letting this monster loose, make sure you check your door panels are nice and tight, or they might just fall off.

Taramp’s did a great job with this monoblock Class D amplifier. By far, it’s the most affordable on the market. I mean, compared to this one, JL and Rockford Fosgate is highly overpriced.

Power Specs:

  • 1 OHM: 3000 Watts RMS
  • 2 OHMS: 3000 Watts RMS
  • 4 OHMS: 2000 Watts RMS

Being a Class D amplifier means that it won’t overheat even if you push it hard for many hours. The build quality is excellent, and it will handle some abuse.

I just can’t wrap my head around how did they manage to pack so much power in this tiny unit. Best of all, you will be able to mount it anywhere, and it won’t take up much space. The sound quality is excellent for the commute and delivers big noise.

Here’s why it’s a must-buy:

  • A Little Monster: Please don’t underestimate this amplifier because it will flex your car and will make your windshield wipers vibrate.
  • The Subwoofers Will Shine: The power this amplifier delivers is insane. The bad is that it will torture the subs, and the good is that it will bring the best out of them.
  • Bang for Your Buck: Taramp’s made a mistake pricing this amplifier should be expensive. Hopefully, you can get it before they jack the price

Here are a few drawbacks:

This is an expensive amplifier if you want to get access to those 3000 watts. To get that much power, you will need a second battery and at least a 150 Amp alternator. Still, it’s worth it.

When I started up, it had a smoky smell, and I thought that something had gone wrong. Apparently, it’s some burn off smell to brace for that hard-hitting bass to come.

All in all, this Taramp’s is the best car amp for bass that is affordable. As a matter of fact, you’re getting a great deal which will make the minor drawbacks insignificant.

Now it seems that others have found this hidden gem of an amp, and stocks are going empty soon. You need to move fast if you want this amplifier or risk waiting for weeks on end.

Pros
  • A small monster that delivers insane power
  • My subs never sounded this good
  • It’s a steal of a deal, and you can’t get anything better at this price range
Cons
  • Serious investment needed for the electrical system
  • There’s no low pass filter included

#3 Alpine S-A60M S-Series – Best Bass Amp Car Audio

[REVEALED] The Best Car Amplifiers for Bass in 2024 3This (Alpine) is simply the investment in the best sound you’ve ever had. With this Alpine amplifier, you’re getting everything for the perfect bass and then some.

I love when I can push the limits with amplifiers and slam it hard without overheating. So for normal use, it will be safe.

What you’re getting is a small monoblock Class D amplifier perfect for bumping hard. Since it’s a Class D unit, it means that it won’t overheat, and it’s highly efficient.  Being a small unit means that you can install it anywhere without taking up any precious cargo space.

Power specs:

  • 330 watts RMS x 1 at 4 ohms

Plus, you’re getting a lot more juice than advertised. For fun and kicks, I’ve tested it with a 12” sub and boy, and I was surprised by the results. It actually sounded like TWO 12” in the back. Oh, and one final warning this baby is loud. People will hear you down the street at 25% of the volume.

Here’s why it’s a must-buy:

  • Feel the Envy: This amplifier is so powerful that it will make an 8” sub sound like a 10” or even a 12” through “wizardry”, and people be jealous of your system
  • A Lot of Power in a Small Package: It’s a great hideaway unit under the seat, and it will make the subs bump hard and deliver that powerful bass
  • You Can Choose: This amplifier can be set for the perfect sound quality or to rattle your internal organs; it’s your choice

Here are a few drawbacks:

What’s with big-name brands and not giving out freebies? I mean, it’s really that expensive to kick the bass knob in and not offer it as an upsell? I wish Alpine would rethink it.

There’s no subsonic filter with this amplifier. It’s not the end of the world, though, because there are some workarounds.

All in all, this Alpine is the best bass amp car audio equipment to run with. Yes, it has a few flaws, and that’s nothing compared to what kind of monster you’re getting for the system.

The last time I’ve checked, there were a handful of amps left. This means that you have to move fast if you want one or you risk waiting for weeks on for a new supply.

Pros
  • It’s a tiny looking amp, and it delivers a hell of a punch
  • It will make your sub sound harder and more expensive
  • It’s the perfect choice for the highs and the mids a true gem
Cons
  • The bass knob costs extra
  • There’s no subsonic filter

Buyer’s Guide for getting the best bass from amplifiers

I’ve mentioned at the beginning of this article that no matter which amplifier you choose from the list it’s a guaranteed winner. Also choosing one from the list guarantees that you will avoid the lemons.

Besides this there are some things to consider before buying your amp. You need to make sure that it’s compatible with your subwoofer. This means that it has to match the power rating and the impedance (ohm value).

Amplifier Channels

There are multiple amplifiers on the market and come with different channels. Basically it means how many speakers or subwoofer can you connect to them.

The most popular channels are: monoblock, 2 channel, 4 channel, 5 channel. Of course, there are 3 and 6 other combinations.

The monoblock amplifier is great for powering subwoofers. As a matter of fact you can power even two subwoofers with a single channel.

The two channel amplifier is good for powering two speakers or subwoofers or a speaker and a subwoofer and there are other combinations.

The four-channel amplifier is meant for powering 2-6 speakers. It’s not limited to that if you know some wizardry.

Finally there’s the 5 channel amplifier there’s only a slight difference between the 4 channel one and this would be the dedicated channel for the subwoofer.

Amplifier Power

There are so many numbers with amplifiers. The most hyped one is the peak power. Here’s my #1 tip ignore it because it doesn’t mean anything. The real number you should be looking at is the RMS power rating.

It’s typical that brands inflate the numbers to look more appealing.

After you have found the RMS power value then you have to match it with your sub. This means that it should be in the 70-100% of the subwoofer’s RMS. Under power is bad for the sub and overpowering won’t hurt.

Amplifier class

There are multiple classes as well. The two most popular ones are Class A/B and Class D. Also there are hybrid options.

Class A/B delivers the best distortion-free sound while Class D is ultra-efficient and doesn’t need cooling.

The drawback with Class A/B is that it’s only 65% efficient the rest is heat which needs to be vented. This means that it might be more expensive with all the cooling needed.

Class D has a drawback as well and that on higher level it starts to distort.

Amplifier Size

The amplifier size varies. With new technology subwoofers have shrunk significantly now you can get phone sizes ones with amazing power.

Typically Class A/B amplifiers are bigger and Class D are smaller.

Which Type of Car Amplifier Should I Get?

Well it comes down to your system and needs. If you have multiple speakers and a subwoofer than a 5 channel is your right choice. Suppose you don’t have a sub than a 4 channel. If you only have a subwoofer than a monoblock.

If you value SQ than you go with Class A/B and if you value efficiency and don’t want to overheat the amp then go with Class D.

Conclusions on the Best Car Amplifiers for Bass

We have reached the end of this award show. I hope you loved the reviews as much as I loved testing and writing them.

I’ve mentioned this before and here it is again these three amplifiers above are great and there are no lemons or duds here. Also before buying make sure it’s compatible with your system. Check the power rating and the impedance. The power has to be 70-100% of the subwoofers RMS power and the impedance should be the same.

If you already picked the winner then get moving because these amplifiers are selling like hot cakes. The only way you can get them if you buy them now.

If you have questions or tips let me know by email. I will do my best to respond.

Which amps didn’t make it on the best car amplifier for bass list?

These amps didn’t make it on the best car amplifier for bass: rockford fosgate r500x1d car amplifier, jl audio compact amplifier, boss audio system car amplifier. The main reason why these amps didn’t make the cut is because they either they were too expensive, needed more power, the input signal wasn’t strong, didn’t serve high power output, the remote bass control was missing, ground input terminals were problematic or they were too cheap like boss audio system. I’ve excluded JL audio because it’s too pricey for most pockets. And I’ve dropped boss audio system because it was too cheap.

What do car owners need to get a great sounding car stereo sound system?

To make a stock system instantly sound better all you need is a car amplifier or a bass car amp. By getting a car amplifier sound system will sound better since the speakers are getting all the power they need. Getting a head unit is great that gives you extra functionalities but if it doesn’t have an amp then it won’t make your sound system sound better for this you need a powerful amplifier. The more power you deliver the better it will sound. If you have a subwoofer  you will need a high power output. This is why you need to pick the right car amplifier. First of all make sure that the power supply is a mosfet power supply because those are the best. If you place the car amplifier under the seat having remote subwoofer control (remote punch level control) is an absolute must. The bass output (bass response) gets stronger with more power.

Do compact sizer car amplifiers have more power?

Well, it depends on what kind of compact size car amplifier we’re talking about. The new technology shrinks the amps and they indeed have more power. The perfect example is the rockford fosgate r500x1d. it has a great bass response. All those who want great bass response they should go with rockford fosgate.
