Best 2 Channel Amp with Pros, Cons & Recommendations

Welcome to the Best 2 Channel Amp Award Show!

After spending the last 11 days running wires, soldering, heat shrinking and dialing in amps meanwhile dodging house chores and bedtimes stories (sorry, honey…), I’m ready to reveal which would be the best 2 channel amplifier on the market today.

Look:

Finding the perfect 2 channel amp comes down to three things, your power need, available space, and budget. As soon as you know this, it will be easy to find the perfect fit.

You see, I’ve been installing car audio for more than 20 years. You name it, and I’ve worked on it. So this is why I’ve decided to make you a list of the best of the best amps to save you time and avoid trial and error.

I’m ranking the top3 best two-channel amplifiers on: power, ease of install, looks, and value for the money.

Keep in mind that picking any amp from the list below is a guaranteed winner. It will deliver the power that you need for a sweet-sounding ride.

Let me see those amps already!

#1 Rockford Fosgate P300X2 Punch 300 – The Best Overall 2 Channel Amplifier

We have a WINNER!

Rockford Fosgate has delivered with this amp. Holy smokes, what an experience to ride in a car that is juiced by this amplifier.

First of all, it’s a small amp so no matter how small of a vehicle you have, it will fit. Also, it’s a premium product. Besides the quality parts and great looks it allows you to get more power out of it than advertised.

Power Specs:

  • RMS Power Output: 100 Watts x 2 @ 4-Ohm
  • RMS Power Output: 150 Watts x 2 @ 2-Ohm
  • RMS Power Output 300 Watts x 1 @ 4-Ohm Bridged

My damaging admission, don’t hate. I had to turn down the volume because it was simply too much. Yes, there’s such a thing as being way too loud. Best of all I didn’t hear or feel any type of distortion even at maximum.

I’m proud that it’s made in the USA. By getting this amp, you’re not just getting a great sound quality but you’re supporting a local business.

This is why it’s top of my list:

  • Premium Amp: This is what I love about premium products is that you’re getting more out of them than you’ve paid for. This RF amp can give you more power than they advertise
  • Bad to the Bone: This amp not only makes the sub pound harder, but the music is clean, loud, and without a trace of distortion
  • Small Unit Packing a Punch: This sub is the real deal. Not only it fits almost anywhere but it delivers the juice to make those speakers come alive

A few drawbacks to consider:

The truth is that few people complained that this amp is running how. Well, I didn’t experience it and just in case if you run into that trouble, try switching from 4 ohms to 2 ohms or get a cooling fan.

For a premium subwoofer I expected a decent manual and there wasn’t non. Plus I really missed the subsonic filter.

All in all this Rockford Fosgate amp is a great unit to have because you can’t get this type of quality at an amazing price like this.

Since this is a very popular amp it’s flying off the shelves. You have to move or else you will be waiting on weeks on end. Buy it now before someone else grabs it.

If you want something cheaper then check out #2 on my list.

Pros:

It delivers chest-pounding bass

You’re getting the exact sound you have been looking for

Solid choice for getting more power out than it’s advertised

Cons:

A few people complained about running hot

It doesn’t come with a subsonic filter

#2 BOSS Audio Systems PT3000 – Best Value for the Money 2 Channel Amplifier

Suppose you haven’t heard about the Boss brand before they stand for affordable yet quality products. This is the case with this amp.

Besides being super simple to install it delivers exceptional sound quality. As a matter of fact you’re getting a real bang for your buck.

Power (take it with a grain of salt because it’s less):

  • 1500 Watts Max x 2 @2-Ohms
  • 750 Watts Max x 2 @4-Ohms
  • 3000 Watts Max x 1 Bridged @4 Ohms

I have a good friend who bought this same exact amp and he put it to some extreme tests. He has maxed it for more than a year in very hot conditions and it’s still running without a hick. So yeah these amps are built like a tank.

That red LED light is just amazing. When it turns on the people stop talking. It’s a beauty.

If you let this beast lose I’m warning you to do it with care because you will be shaking the neighbor’s windows and they won’t hear their TV if you pull up. Best of all it’s at a great price.

Here’s why it’s a must-buy:

  • It Can Take a Beating: A friend of mine maxed this sub for a full year in scorching heat and it’s still going strong today
  • Easy Install: You can’t get this wrong even if you try to. The installation is a breeze no rocket science diploma needed
  • Unbeatable Price: This amp is a real bargain. You can’t get lower than this if you still want some good value.

Here are a few drawbacks:

They have overstated the maximum power a bit. I mean it won’t reach 3000 watts not even on its best day.

This is one big and long Boss amplifier. I was shocked to see how big this baby was when I’d got it. Here’s a heads up. It won’t fit in smaller cars only in the trunk.

All in all this Boss amp is a great choice. It has an exceptional warranty and it delivers the power needed other than that it has killer looks.

The last time I’ve checked there were only a few left in stock. As you probably guessed, there are some manufacturing difficulties, so you need to grab one right one or risk waiting weeks on end for the restock.

Pros:

Best value for the price

It can take a serious beating for years and still deliver

It comes with 6 years of platinum warranty

Cons:

You won’t be able to get 3000 Watts out of it

It’s a huge amp so it won’t fit in smaller cars

#3 Planet Audio AC2600.2 – Best Affordable 2 Channel Amplifier

Now if you’re on the budget and still want to deliver great power then this is the right amp for you. No matter if you have two 10” subs or 12” woofers, this will deliver the lows.

Planet Audio is known for budget builds. However, it’s not some low-quality throw-away amp. It gets the job done. Best of all the clarity is just insane. If you really want to push this amp to the limit you can potentially shatter your windows.

Power Specs:

  • 1300 W MAX Power @ 2 Ohm x 2 Channels
  • 650 W MAX Power @ 4 Ohm x 2 Channels
  • 2600 W MAX Bridged Power @ 4 Ohm x 1 Channels

As a matter of fact I had to turn down the sound because it was too loud, don’t hate me for this please.

People are extremely jealous of the amount of power this little guy has for the price I’ve paid for. The stench of envy was quite noticeable.

If you want to power some speakers this amp can do it perfectly. You will get some great sound out of them with amazing clarity. It’s highly recommended by many of my friends.

Here’s why it’s a must-buy:

  • Perfect Balance Between Price & Power: With this baby you can easily power two 10” and even two 12” subs
  • Pounds the Subs: Wow I was blown away by the power it delivers. My eyeballs were shaking and I’m not kidding
  • An Eye Catcher: It’s not an ugly thing that you have to hideaway some obscure place in your vehicle; on the contrary how “Anarchy” lights up it’s a real bragging point

Here are a few drawbacks:

It’s a tad bit overrated for 2600 Watts my best estimate the absolute most that you can get out of it is 1800 Watts. Either way it’s worth it because you’re getting watts on pennies.

It’s a weird amp because it’s big however it has tiny screw holes so it’s almost impossible to drill it in a box. Some workarounds are needed.

Pros:

Really good quality for the money

It can easily handle two 10” and 12” subs

Amazing looks mixed with big pounding bass delivery

Cons:

It’s highly overrated for 2600 Watts

The amp is big and the screw holes are too small
